hey, if Lenz(or D'Sylva) makes a plug and play Management system, why are we fucking around with all this other stuff. I haven't seen this before. Does anybody know how much it cost? The rest is easy, as it works with the E34 ///M5. The web site says it works with the E28 M30(mostly)? It's a 35pin AMP conn the same as the 059 DME we have now. This is the bomb, pressuming it's not $4k.

Anybody have more info?

Sounds like a drop in replacement as Rich stated. However, it also sounds like it is non-tunable. It's a drop-in replacement for Motronic with some of the same limitations. You can't change the timing curves, injectors sizes, fuel maps, it sounds like it's pre-optimized for each application.

Doesn't sound like something I'd really be interested in for a turbo car, the M5 application is probably quite nice however.

Hasn't anybody here fiddled around with that DIN cable splice into a stock motronic box? Porsche 944 guys were doing it last I heard.

Either way, why are you afraid of some wiring? If you think you can program an engine management system, you should sure as hell be able to figure out how to plug one in (beyond a single 35pin AMP connection, I mean the other end of the harness). I think the challenge inherent in making management talk to all of the parts of ANY factory system is a bit like a primer for what the hell you're doing with the programming in the first place. You can't expect to tune a system without knowing how a stepper motor works and how it is controlled, nor can you replace a perfectly good oem system with something aftermarket and expect to be able to foster any change without having a little test of stick-to-it-ness and ingenuity.

Cutting, splicing, and soldering is fair bit different from programming, Griffith. I could probably handle both given enough time, but my programming and computer skills are a far sight better than my electrical skills.
