We bought the bacon family fun-day car last weekend. Sorry, it isn't an e28, & it isn't a turbo. I haven't even got a dyno sheet for it yet. Traction control is a party killer, but I'm happy it is there, as the wife likes to drive this thing. It has a very pleasant torque curve.

25k. I may buy a stock m3 muffler, as that dynan thing makes my 535 seem really quiet. Taken in the context of weekend toy, it may not be too loud.

You should be able to turn it off. IIRC, there's a button in front of the shifter somewhere that says ASC or DSC or something.

Nice looking Bimmer. One thing though, pay close attention to the sheetmetal around the rear subframe attach points. High powered E36, E46 and the Z3 M Roadsters and M Coupes have known weaknesses in this area. IIRC, I believe Turner Motorsports sells a reinforcement kit for the E36 that eliminates the problem.

card counter over on bimmerforums had that aa diff enforcement plate. he has so much power that he twisted the sbframe and ripped an ear right off the diff even with that plate, he also bent one of the 1/2 inch thick screwws that hold the plate in place!

Wasn't this a main problem on the '92 E36 ... I thought the subframe issue was fixed on later e36 models. Please let me know if I am incorrect ..

I understand that the factory reinforced the subframe mounts by 98. This is a late 98 convert, which may have doubled sheet metal here. I've made a decision against firmer supsension bits & the car will not be tracked. I also will not be going for larger wheels, although I do not enjoy cleaning these existing wheels; they are hard to keep right with many corners & the shape of the spokes gaining some rim lip. BMA is sending new rotors & akibono(spelling?) ceramic pads that may throw less black dust.

Turner has these reinforcement mounts for the early e36's.
I will eventually have a look underneath, as this thing loves the hole shot. Here's the stupidest part; it gets better mileage than my e34 535 5 speed. The first tank gave us 340 miles, at about 15 gallons; this is what I usually get around town on a 19+ gallon e34 tank.
