Yup,
check TCDs site, he got a high 12's with his car. Most with stock drivetrain can expect a 2.5s reduction in 1/4m times.

I'm not too sure about 0-60... our powerband is crap below 3 grand... that plus turbo lag means it takes a little bit of time before we get up to speed - these engine are really more of highway killers more than anything....
but i'm drunk... so... word up?

I don't know, TJ, our "TCD" cars exhibit pretty violent acceleration on demand. 60mph comes and goes in no time.

I've done some very crude 0-60 timing using a watch and passenger. It's not scientific whatsoever but we were seeing somwhere in the 6 sec. range over 4 runs with:

3:73
2nd gear/sport setting
8lb boost.

Conditions weren't the best and there was some wheelspin so I'd guess that times can be reduced with 1) better traction and a more experienced driver and 2) more boost.

I may get flamed for this but I'm gonna guess that the auto will produce better acceleration figures due to no lag at shift points and the ability to run the boost up onto the converter before taking off.

Why would you get flamed? Todd wouldn't have put an auto in his car if it was slower off the line, that's for sure!

I just like driving a manual better, plus I have dreams of doing a DE one of these days.

While the auto can be better(with the right mods) for 1/4m, it won't be for road course work or autox'ing. The shift transitions at times you don't want it to will work against fast lapping.

Russ, your'e correct, however I would be very curious to see how my or Todds car would act in an autox or road course situation given the mods we've done. They are identical save for the fact I have the EH tranny and Todd has the standard. I'm in no way saying that an auto equipped car would be faster but I don't think its as big of a handicap as some might.

This is kind of getting off the topic of this post but I've been doing some playing with the tranny in "manual" mode in different driving situations and have been pretty impressed with the results. While there are really only 3 gears to chose from in the manual mode the additional torque gained with the turbo makes up for lack of gearing. There is also no lag since the motor is always on boost during the shifts. There is a lot more flexibility to the powertrain and pulling hard from 2500 is not out of the question.

More on the original topic, next up will be some 50-70 etc. runs. I hope to have various figures in the near future and will fill everyone in on them. They won't be scientific but should give a somewhat accurate gauge as to what has been gained with force feeding :)

Funny you should mention that. BIR is having open track on the 24th and I've already got my registration sent in.
