Was an honest race and this guy was trying hard. He even got the jump by cutting in front of me due to slow moving traffic. Full throttle in 2nd, had to let off because he was too slow and I would have hit him. He took an opening and moved left to the next lane, I continued to move to the far left lane (three lane rd.) and ran by him in 3rd. I ran out third and was into 4th with him way back, he had shut it down and started licking his wounds.
There are about three 350Z's on post and I have schooled two of them now. Been handing Mustangs their butts too. There are a couple of highly tuned Mustangs that I will need 18-20 psi before I take them on. The little blue grocery getter is having lots O fun in KY and TN.
Who has the E28 M5 in Bowling Green KY? I saw the car this past Sunday while on a family trip to Kentucky Down Under.

Destroyed a 350Z this morning.............
By "highly tuned", what does that imply? SC's, head work, pulleys? Just kinda curious. A tech at the shop I frequent has a SVT Cobra w/pulleys, big exhaust and minor tuning, and it made 425whp. As an example, there dyno has SC'd ///M3 running(3.2l) with W/A ICs and big Vortechs at 11psi getting ~325whp.
A quick ride in this Cobra showed me, even at 20psi in my car, this Stang would beat me handily in a straight line in any race, standing, rolling at any speed. Umm, the way this car pushed was silly hard. Any theve just scratched the surface of the potential. A little head work, stroker crank coupled with some real tuning time would get 525+whp easily.
I would guess your car would need 25-30psi to be in the ballpark with this car. Stangs are very easy to get big power out of. And this car is a IRS unit also.

(ive got the manifold..just need to buy the Turbo.)
The way tyou put it Duke sound Awesome...not looking fo rth same punch as you..but i love the stories of 3.5 e28s eliminating 350Z. Motorcycles and highly tuned mustangs (we dont have them here (well not many)..but we do have Corvette powered Monaros and some Aussie built in-lione 6 (4.0litre) ford Turbos (XR6).....which are real Killers)
Hope you sougt out that heat issue...id love to here some more .

I want to hear more race stories! Nothing like giving people their due.
I'm still licking my wounds from last week on the way to work when a quad-cab, Dodge Ram SR-10 pulled my E34 M5 3.8 liter by probably 5-6 car lengths from a 20mph roll. I knew those things had 500 horse, but I also thought it must weigh a ton (nearly three it turns out, and an auto transmission). I guess I learned the hard way that 360hp in a 3800 pound sedan can't beat 500 (and 530 lb/ft) in a 5600 pound truck.
Strange how much the HP race has changed in the last few years. A few weeks ago I harassed an Acura NSX of unknown vintage and I think I was a tick or so quicker than him since I had to back out of the throttle when I was behind him. I never would have thought I could equal an NSX and get schooled by a frickin' truck!

yeah those trucks can be faster than you'd expect... the other day i got schooled off the line by a dodge ram 1500 hemi... my car would've beaten it but only one of my wheels were spinning.... both of us were smoking them pretty hard cuz it was not too old of tar on the road and it was pretty soft from a hot day... he never got more than 1/2 a car length on me but still... i was surprised... it was an auto as well...

Ya, on the NSX, their rep from day one was "under-powered". Great F1 style handling, but just badly under-powered.
Funny how 20 yr newer technology works :p :p :p even in a truck
