When bolted up, the turbo outlet on my TCD turbo would be pointing the wrong direction!!! Its supposed to point upward towards the intake manifold inlet, but mine points 90 degrees to the right, straight towards the frame rail

Can the outlet housing be rotated to point the correct direction? It appears it can be done quite easily actually by loosening the housing bolts/clamps and rotating it 90 deg. on its axis, but I don't know squat about disassembling a turbo.

Sweeney or Todd please chime in!! I haven't been able to reach Todd at all since I got the kit delivered, as I believe he is "traveling".

Anyone have Todd's cell # ??

Loosen the housing bolts and the assembly can rotate. It may take a few tries to get the angle just right so the charge pipe is at the correct angle but it'll rotate.

Kyle, the three main sections of the turbo can be "clocked" independently by loosening the the bolts.
To get you close the oil inlet should be parallel to the turbine housing/manifold flange and the compressor outlet will be aimed a few degrees away from the manifold. When mounted there should be a gap of approximately 1/2" between the outlet and the manifold.

Next question: Sweeney said you need to tap a 1/2" NPT hole in the pan for the oil return line. The only hose that appears to serve this purpose in the kit is a much larger 5/8" hose and associated fittings. Obvoiusly muc hlarger than 1/2".

The bit needs to be 23/32 and the tap needs to be 1/2"-14 NPT. The 1/2" is not referring to the diameter of the hole but to the thread size. You'll need to make a trip to the hardware store and buy a bit and tap unless you are in the good graces of a machinist or someone who happens to have both of them sitting around.

As Bill said, plus this from McMaster-Carr:

"Pipe size is the accepted industry designation, not the actual measured size."

For a 1/2NPT fitting, the thread OD is 3/4".
