ok guys, the annual bavarian fest will once again be held in hamonnassett state park in connecticut next weekend on the 17th of september. i encourage all of you to come out and make a strong showing for the e28 and e34 crowd. i will be in the ICS booth and will proudly be displaying my TCD beast. if you have a turbo car and can make it out, great. even if you have an NA car, make the trip Anyway. so use this thread as an rsvp. i hope to see some of you there.

Just found out about it today while down at ICS (George is one critical guy, but he liked my car, hehe). We'll see what my situation is next weekend. You going up to Westford, Ma on Sunday?

What do you mean critical?

What do I mean by critical? OK, I pop the hood, he looks in and within .5 seconds says, "Ahhh, TCD kit." A moment or two later: "No intercooler? You won't make any power without an intercooler." A few more moments go by and he points to my bypass valve: "Those things are dangerous, they fail all the time. You should get an all metal one." Another moment passes, he points to the AFM: "Just dump that thing and put a TEC3 on there, you'll make a lot more power."

Now, those that've been in my car and ridden in it know that it is by no means slow. The guys I caravanned to 5erFest05 with know this for sure, lol. Hell, the other day I met up with Justin in his Hartge 3.7L w/ close ratio and determined that mine was faster. So it is by no means slow. Can it keep up with the 811hp turbo M3 that they had on the "leader board" for the shop dyno? Hell no, but I'm OK with that. George took my car for a drive and complimented the smoothness of the setup asked me who tuned it. When I told him I had done most of the final tuning, he was quite complimentary.

He was a nice guy, but he's used to guys trying to squeeze every last ounce of everything I think. His comments would be spot on if I were one of those people, but I'm not. They had a nice G35R ball bearing turbo with T3 flange in the shop along with several others to give you an idea of what they usually deal with.

That explain it sufficiently?

Jeremy

george is a great guy and a hp junky but he is very quick to point out flaws in other people's setups IF HE DID NOT CREATE THE SETUP HIMSELF! if he built the car then he will not be so quick to point anything out but he is continually modding some of the shop cars and customer cars. jeremy, first time he saw my car, the first three things he said had to do with no intercooler, deleting the afm and the rrfpr. i also started bugging him about the tec3 back in september of last year and now that he has a handful installed on customer cars, he is all about the system. bottom line, george is a great guy and a knowledgeable builder but he is critical of other peoples work. he did however, have some very positive comments on another tcd e28 that stopped by last march running l;ike 22 psi (is that the alan goodman guy?).

Yea, I didn't mean to say anything bad about the guy if it came out that way. He's just, well, very critical. lol. That's the only way I can put it. He seems to have a thing for details (like the bypass valve), which is a good thing whether you agree with him on that point or not. He seems to like to overbuild things, which again, is not a bad thing.

I like places that're critical of the work that comes out of their shop, and I'm sure George and the boys down there do a fine job.

Jeremy

PS - I won't be making Bavarian Fest this weekend, sorry, and I don't know who's car that would've been running 22psi. ~0 Only person I know of crazy enough to do that on a TCD kit so far has been Todd, but I don't know everything about all the setups running around out there by any means.

The Bosch 110 Bypass valve does NOT fail all the time. We have had one failure on a customer''s car after 25 track days! Don't get me started onthe rest of the BS I just read.

Like I said, he likes to overbuild. Rather extravagantly in some cases (like the $150 bypass valve they wanted to sell me). I never said I agreed with him, I just stood there and bit my tongue like a nice polite guest.

I'm thinking about going, but $25??!!!! Man; I can only hope it would be worth it as I've never been to it before. It's supposed to rain Thursday thru Sunday too. 50% chance of rain on Saturday. Not good show weather.

TCD - Are you still coming out, cuz??

Will they re-schedule if the weather is real bad?

I live not far from George's place in Stamford and did stop in there back in March.

When I first arrived, George took a look and was slightly ctitical - until he drove the car! Then there were nothing but compliments. In fact, he called everyone around to come and take a look.

He thought it was a solid mid 12sec. car.. At one point he asked if it was for sale!?!

My car has been running 18psi for just over a year.

It sounds like a cool show, but I think the Ophelia effect will dampen the day a bit. Still not sure if I'll make it.
