Cleaned the kit off today and am currently letting it dry out. The only things I see that are ruined appear to be the wastegate and fuel pressure regulator. Everything else is just dirty amd a little corroded, but will work fine.

Even the turbo still spins nice and smoothly! Its currently sitting in an oil bath in Sean's garage that is now a convertible lol. (Blue tarp serving as a temporary roof) Hopefully this turbo will be fine with some cleaning....we shall see.

Your house is dry already? I didn;t know you retrieved it. The wastegate and FMU s/b fine. What appears to br wrong with them?

Well, maybe they are ok. All of the ports in both of them were full of water and mud. Don't they have moving parts in there? I thought the mud coating on the diaphrams & stuff would make them worthless.

Can they be disassembled and cleaned???

If they can, almost everything will be salvageable and I'll be a happy camper!

Pull them apart and clean them. The diaphrams are the least likely component to be bothered by that sludge..

Yes, you disassemble and clean them. Just do it in a good environment so you don't lose any parts. Did you go diving to retrieve the kit?

take the wastegate apart first, its less complicated, and is good practice for the RRFPR.

Sounds good then, I'm cool with opening them up. Should be fairly straightforward.

No, I didn't go diving to get the stuff. Our block has already dried out! Still some VERY nasty stuff though. See the GC section for full details...

All the turbo stuff was still damp in the house, which I think helped protect it from corrosion more than anything.

next time there is a life threatening hurricane coming, you gotta think with your head and grab the important stuff! :p ok j/k. at least you made it out alive and hopefully were able to recover most of your belongings.
