how much power do you think a.... ummmm.... 78(i think, somewhere around there) 320i would make if the engine was ported and polished, blueprinted and balanced to safely reach 10,000 RPM, bored out, turboed (maybe 20 psi), would make? keep in mind that this happened in the early 80s.
also, a 74 bavaria with the same stuff done to it, in the early 80s
oh yeah, a 72 2002tii, too

these cars are already built?
I don't think the fact that they run to 10k rpm matters much - I'm sure the HP/Torque drops off at half of that...
as far as power - there's too many factors that we don't know -- size of the engine (if it's bored out etc... it might not be the stock engine...) -- size of the turbo -- compression...

If the bav is full race, I'm thinking 3.4 or 3.5, 300 deg cam, full port and polish, big valves, 11ish:1, triple webers, etc. NA that sounds like 300-350hp. If turboed, 9ish:1, FI or blow through webers (weird), proper turbo cam, etc. I'm thinking 500hp.

i found out the particular 320 i was talking about made 420 hp..... then when a custom built nitrous system was added, all hell broke loose. maybe almsot 600 hp? he took the nitrous off cause it was wayyyy too much

this was a long time ago.... i don't think pictures exist. my dad built these cars in the 80s, and didn't hang on to them for very long. and they were sleepers..... the epitome of a sleeper. so he didn't like anyone knowing what was in them, and never really took pictures. but plenty of family members who knew about his cars verify that they were beastly. he broke the driveshaft in the 320 doing a burnout. i want him to build another car. he wants to also, but i don't think he has the resources or the time anymore

Hey Greek - I'm sure you've heard of the Grassroots Motorsports challenge... If not, it's a $2000 cap to buy/build a car for auto-x, drag, concours... And it's right in your back yard (by back yard, I mean all of the Southeast - it's somewhere in Florida).
Anybody ever made an e21 335?
