Well i bought a RHD BAE Turbo manifold of TCD a while back.
I bought it with the intention of sometime down the track using it with a 535i or similar with the low Compression US engiine
Well that time is sought of approacing....and i know the basics of Turbos, Im not afraid to bolt it on etc...but the finer points like Maps and types of blowers, blow valves etc..im not so savvy on
Here is the Kit:
Basically my firstt idea was to in the future buy a 535i witht he Low compression 3.5. but as i am in no hurry to do that...i figured why not put it on my car Euro 528i) while i take off the extracors and have them coated for my new 2.8 engine im have been building before i bought the kit ...just to see how it goes on a 250,000klm 2.8 engine with the eequipment supplied in the Kit (everything is there to bolt it straight up to a L-jet engine with instructions.) It is probably a good idea for me to play around with the turbo on a older engine using the original intended application..just to see how it all goes..beofre i get more serious down the track.
But firtly i have to buy a Turbo charger...TCD (todd) said that the best option is a Garret T3 but the holes are drilled for a T4 i beleive? and would have to be redone..not a big deal.
OR should i just go the T4...(from my under standing the T3 T4 the numbers on the ends just stand for capacity of the engine it should be matched to?? or am i way off??
also im not sure about the instructions that came with it......it mentions nothing about Boost Retard? It does have an Enrichment circuit in the kit. (i might scan these and get you guys to help me work out the instructions while i put it together.)
The kit was made for a 530 and a 730i and everything is identical except i have the later style intake manifold. Capacity is similar, it is L-jet..sam basic setup all round.
It is just the finer points that i need advice on,
