Want to make some big horsepower like 500 hp
or i buy a m30b35, tcd kit, forged pistons, standalone ecu, head work, ...
and some things more
this is pretty expensive total like 11k+
or buy a M60b40 or M62b44 manual and ess sc kit for like 8-9k total, costum exhaust system, ...
it has 410 hp standard at 7 psi, increase it to 9 or so and 500bhp is in sight.
And you have a v8 with the sound and low end torque.

M30B35 - with TCD kit, easy install proven and will be able to make 500 HP
M60b40/44 - only one has been installed, you will be breaking new ground with a SC.......BIG unforeseen expenses.

There are many things to consider. Unless you are are doing all of the work yourself than do not even consider doing the M60. If you are capable fo doing all the work yourself than still do not do the M60. If you want a V8, buy a LS1 and install that! We'll have a kit out this summer for that swap.
One other thing. If you go with a m30 and all the other items you described, you'll have a brand new motor, new turbo kit and sophisitcated and tunable engine management. The setup will be totally reliable and very powerful. A used M60 will still be used and the engine management will not be tunable.
My advice is go m30 or LS1 but not M60.

as alternative for the m30, you could even put a 2JZ-GTE engine in it. 500 hp is nothing for these engines
the car must stay a bmw.

there is some company that does the 2jz conversion for e36's. apparently it fits quite nicely. i have a pic of one in an e34, if someone can host it i can post it up.

also thinking about the belgian law and so, changing an l6 into a v8 would attract attention. Don't know if it's legal to just swamp an engine, here you have to pay taxes based on the engine capacity. motor vehicle inspection checks brakes, emission, little bit suspension, check the underside. Somethimes they open the hood. Maybe with such an old vehicle, it the emission wouldn't be noticed.
aren't the ls1parts and turbo/sc options more expensive then for a 2JZ-GTE? that engine is twin turbo by the way!!!
But still i think a m30 would be the best choise, so it stays a real bmw.
The m30 stock can handle about 15 psi max at 320-360 rwhp
a 2JZ-GTE has stock 290 rwhp at ??psi and can handle ??psi max with stock internals
a stock and new M30 costs ??
a stock and new 2JZ- GTE costs ???
