Pulling some timing out will not be a problem. Where did you notice too much timing (RPM, Boost level) with your car? I will be staying with the stock BOV boost level of 8-10 PSI so I should still be fine.

i'd get detonation after 4k RPM but we are thinking that could be due to my engine about to shit the bed. who knows, hope to have it running and retuned in the next month and a half or so. they ran like 19 degrees of timing on it so that could be an issue.

duke, i tried sending the bin file but it said the address you gave me does not exist. is it correct or is there another one that would work?

Why would a older engine cause detonation? Was there a guess?

my tuner suggested that it might have something to do with blow by or not enough oil in the cylinders (since it was leaking like the titanic) but a piss poor install maybe be to blame as well. i will have more info on my tec3 setup in a few weeks and an interesting story to go with it.

How much did you pay for a "hamfisted moron" to install it? Makes me feel a lot better about installing mine, it was a PITA though. I could do it again in half the time though.

Was it a turbo charged M30 engine? NA will not work.

gol10dr1 - no file yet. Try samouce@charter.net

I would love a copy of your BIN file then. With yours and gol10dr1's, I bet I can get close on my tuning.
