Had to run some errands at lunch. From a stoplight at the top of an on-ramp, I took off next to an e60 530i. He gunned to beat me to the merge. I stomped, pulled and passed him. This is good. (although I probably have 20 hp and an equivalent tq advantage over the 225 hp 3.0, I'm running a 3.64 final drive and my e12 probably weighs 500-700 lbs less, so I really had no excuse).

Returning to the freeway from the other end of my errand, I was next to a new Chrysler 300 Hemi. Same exact scenario unfolded, but I could not pull him. I held him until I hit the rev limiter in 2nd, pulled the shift as fast as I could, managed to get even again, but I could not pull him, I could only hold him.

This must be remedied.

Now, now...sooner or later, somewhere there's a faster car. It's not about FASTEST.

Sez who?

Just for reference, a 300 Hemi stepped down in front of me when I still lived in Bristol. 30-60mph he didn't get away from me. I'm not sure if he really gave it everything or not, but I sure felt good afterwards. :)

Right, or more to the point, has more money...which allows for more speed ;)

What I meant was..it's kind of like being the biggest, baddest MoFo on the block. Sooner or later even that guy gets their ass kicked in a bar fight by somebody a little bit bigger and badder. There's ALWAYS somebody that little bit badder. Even if you haven't met him yet.

Enjoy your car for the combination package that it is. I've been in cars so powerful and torquey that the whole car flexes when you roll the throttle on. But they are not as satisfying to drive as a well sorted 535/911/m3/928/900/m5/fillintheblank.

And yet, I understand the enjoyment one derives from smoking a "fast" car in a quiet little sleeper like a "sheep-in-wolfs-clothing" pressurized fiver. LOL.

boost-on dude. But enjoy the journey, not just the destination.

Andrew.

they day i brought my car home from the tuner last summer i ran into a pack (3) gsxr 600 sport bikes on the highway. i pulled up next to them (not really intending to race) but they gunned it and so did i. from 80-about 125 mph they pulled on me less than a car length. when one of the bikers looked back with his visor up, the look on his face could only be described as "WHAT THE FUCK IS UNDER HIS HOOD!!!!" that was all well and good but i recently decided i wanted to kick the shit out of those bikes when the engine seals shit the bed and oppurtunity for more hp presented itself!

sorry about the rant but i never get tired of telling that story! :p
