We're doing these M5 seats for Dave Rathbone(not sure of his board name here). They'll be completely done tomorrow afternoon, and I'll post some pics then, but these will do for now. Black leather bolsters, with natura leather inserts, and completely hand made black leather piping, not the premade stuff that most shops use.

Al,

Nice job. I'm sure they look awesome in person, but you might want to check some original cars to get the seat bottom the same. The middle of the seat looks a little too "pulled down" (I don't know what those 2 stitches in the middle are called), and the thigh support looks like it may be too rounded in the front. Over time, those thigh bolsters tend to shrink, and then look rounded, but the original pattern is more squared off looking.

Al - about what would it cost to get some sport seats in single color leather with black piping? I'm assuming well more than I can afford any time soon, but a ballpark would be nice to have in the back of my head :D

Thanks Guys. They're not done yet, but should be truly finished up tomorrow.

Dana, they're much less "severe" looking person. Camera plays funny tricks on them. Having said that, we still have not made all the final adjustments. I've got 7 other stock E28/E30 sport seats in my shop for comparison. They're mighty accurate. Also have to realise that when new, they will always be a bit puffier than when 15 or 20 years old.

Prices in leather start about $1000 for the pair. It's OEM BMW leather, hand made piping, and foam work as well.

Naw, Trav -

that's just a feature of the original M "luxe eidition". On long trips, these hands would reach out of the seats and give you a massage. It was really expensive because they had to use human hands, so it was discontinued pretty quickly. I'm surprised Al found some good replacement hands, but then again he is a craftsman.

Yeah, the "BMW M-Tech Magic Hands" are pretty tough to find these days, so we've found a way to make new ones! It's a byproduct of human cloning experiments.

Actually, those ones belong to my buddy Kevin. He's holding the seat up.

Thanks for posting the seat pic Al. I'll submit a pic once they are installed in the car. I picked the natur with black trim as I think its a better match with the rest of the M5 interior.
