I would like to take a moment to share this with the E28 M5 community. I have been actively monitoring the DC93 E28 M5 model and have exchanged a great deal of correspondences with owners regarding the production history of their examples. I have identified and located the DC93 E28 M5 with the final Vin (No. 2875370). I should again note that the vin/ chassis number corresponds to the finished painted body shell that was pressed at BMWs production center at Dingolfing. Assembly of the motorcar was completed at the finishing area in Garching by a small team of technicians. Due to the two part assembly process, it is difficult to determine an absolute production order--although this M5 does have the final Vin, it may not necessarily be the last M5 to be completed. The vehicle is located in the United States and is currently for sale. If anyone is interested in purchasing this M5 please contact me directly for the owners contact information.

Ive got 2875016 October 87. from my understanding it was one of the last hundred built. That one you speak of, is on the M registry. and seems to be the latest on there. November 87. That sure would be a keeper.

You are correct that the E28 M5 is now listed in The Registry and was registered after the motorcar and owner were located. As I have indicated previously, an absolute final production/ build order is not always consistent with VINs. Per North American spec production date records and production periods, E28 M5 (No. 2875016) is well outside the last one hundred examples built.

I would love to hear any more info you have on the car. There is no CARFAX report for that VIN, so it must have never been registered here in the US. Well, I guess I can't say I have the last one any more (2875369)

Hi Bob,
I am happy to share some information about the example. You may have been unable to identify any records because one cannot simply substitute the last seven digits of the Vin due to the variable ninth check digit. The car has been owned and operated in the United States since it was first sold. The current owner reports that the motorcar has logged some two hundred thousand miles of service and is mostly original, though it is fitted with a Dinan Engine Chip and Cam Sprocket. I expect to receive additional full color photographs of the example shortly. As I have previously noted it is currently for sale. Its owner and I hope the community can identify buyers for this example. If anyone is interested in purchasing this M5 please contact me directly for the owners contact information.
