is this pile of 524td parts worth my effort?

Post by Akikola »

I have the chance to obtain an 524td: exhaust manifold, turbo, wastegate, full exhaust, oil filter housing and oil return line, saab 9000 air-to-air intercooler, piping from turbo to intake. All of which are in good to great condition. The price is very fair.
Id like to have this installed on a 325i or possibly a 528e. I was wondering if anyone has had any success with this kind of procedure. I have heard that the ex. manifold does not bolt right up to a gasoline head. Does anybody forsee any problems that might arise?

not worth it.... those systems are made for a smaller engine, diesel none the less. Your gains won't be worth the trouble...

Even if the double secret "fair" price is free, not worth it. Your better holding off for somthing else.

The mods for the manifold to bolt up are not trivial. As said, the turbo is the wrong size, the piping is not complete so you still have to fab some pcs, you don't have engine management, so your still mostly no-where.

But, if you like projects and the challenge...
