So I sold my euro 535i as a rolling chassis. Bought a US 535is. It's a 5 speed with a chip and SS exhaust. Otherwise stock and in good running condition.
Drove it the last few days.
It's the slowest thing on the road. I have just forgotten how significant the transformation of these cars is on boost. I hate to say it but I could never drive a BMW n/a again. At least not an old one.
Now, I just need to find the time to install a turbo on it. Until then it is getting parked and I'll drive the 325i.
150rwhp is just too painful!

Amen brother.
My situation is that i drive a pickup 4/5 of the time that might have 100whp. Getting in the 5'r is almost a religious experience for the other 1/5 of my drive time w/300whp.
Its my though my next car it either a E90 or next 5 series with the N54(3l twin turbo) with SMG. But thats at least 3 years out from here and probably more like 5.

Todd,
Good thing you haven't sold the '3' eh?
First track event for me is only a few weeks away....yippee! Going to be on fresh heat cycled 255/40-17 Toyo RA-1's. Which is the most tire I have ever run on...maybe time to add some brake ducts!
Cheers,
Dave

i felt that way with my s1 kit after a month. then 360 rwhp on the s2 kit got a little old. i hope 450+ rwhp doesn't get old quick b/c i have no more money for upgrades!

Well,
Any hp level can get "old". I try not to focus on it too much and focus on the car dynamics

I wouldn't say my current power level has gotten "old" so much as it's no longer "new". I've gotten used to it certainly, but the fact that I can spank at least 90% of the cars on the road rather embarassingly should I choose to never lets it get old.
My next steps are improving the suspension and driving dynamics, like Russ. Course, the nut behind the wheel is still in need of improvements as well.
