36-1 toothed wheel postion?

Post by terrybpp »

Does the missing tooth point straight up at TDC? Or is there a certian degree of advance or retard it is supposed to be at?

The missing tooth is before the TDC mark... I'm guessing 60 degrees before.

The seperation between the VR sensor and the missing tooth is 60deg. I pretty sure the missing tooth is 10 deg before TDC. Anyone confirm this?

Explain the "60 degrees from the missing tooth to the VR sensor" please... related to???

The missing tooth needs to trigger the VR sensor more degrees before TDC than the maximum spark advance programmed into the ecu. 60 degrees is common but I'm not sure this is what Bosch used... pretty simple to measure.

The missing tooth VR sensor combo tells the ecu "You are 60 degrees BTDC, prepare to fire"....

Looking at the 059 timing map, the largest timing advance is at 8% load and 3600rpm and above. The advance is 44deg BTDC. So 60deg on the wheel makes sense.
