e34 on 13.5 psi and megasquirt ( fuel only )
custom air to water intercooler
when i look at my datalog, and when i am under boost my IAT sensor climbed all the way to 150
is this normal for an intercooled engine.
it seems to me like my intercooler sucks but just want to get a feel what the normal reading should be, given that i can't take a measurment for temp before the intercooler. ( for efficiency )

150 after i had dumped ice in the resorvior

Entering some #s in the Ray Hall turbo calculator, with our engine specs, ambient of 72F, A/A IC, pressure 13.5psi, compressor effiecency 70% and IC efficiency of 70%
compressor outlet=226F
IC outlet=108F

150F is not out of the ball park. Compared to the calculator, your IC efficency is somewhat lower?

are u detonatiing?

if not you should run more boost

hehhe nah those IAT temps seem high
was this a dyno run or highway?

what was ambient temp?

Fact: For every 3.3 °C (5° F) rise in intake temperature, air density drops 1%.

it was a 1/4 mile blast with ice in the tank!!! i cant imagine how high it climbs with out ice. ambient that day was about 70
