And it is in a stripped down E30 coupe. Good Lord that thing must be fast on a level I can't even imagine.

I would think that it would need to be in an all wheel drive chassis to come any where near putting that amount of power to the ground without generating a lot of useless smoke.

Is that a dry sump pan? Also, isn't that engine supposed to be tilted over like other BMW motors?
Either way, it looks really good. I want one!

thats a spicy meatball!
how far is it behind the e34 m5? 100 horse or so? Also interested in why its sitting flat as well. What would be the advantage of going dry sump? other than being able to mount the engine easier?

It allows the engine to be mounted vertical and in a E30 chassis. Mounted vertical, it reminds me of a Rice Burner engine.

thought that as well, performance gains by going straight up and down?

Remember, the original M88 in the M1 was mounted vertically.

Not unless the alternative was upside down.

The vertical mounting just lets them put the engine farther back in the chassis with space for those turbos. Performance gains? Weight balance is about the only thing.
