MS knocked out Tachometer on Dash

I finished wiring up the megasquirt today, and noticed that when I started the car with the Megasquirt controlling fuel, MY Tachometer on my dash stoped moving(still at 0 rpm), + I get a light that says, "Fuel Pressure Sensor" , "Check Owners Manual".

But the oil pressure is fine i believe(no "low oil pressure light"), and it idles + runs great.

Took it out for a quick test drive with a basemap at 10-11 afr(only changed 1 number, Req fuel), No exhaust system past the downpipe, left off wastegate pipe for test, Boost spiked to like 12-14psi, the car WAS FAST, once it kicked in, i only took it to about 4200rpm , but it was awesome! Ill update soon with specs+ pics,(fairly ghetto setup, but ill make sure it works)

Any Ideas on Tach + Oil pressure sensor lights??

Thanks!

PS: THANKS A TON to Todd(+ the TCD Company!)) for all his help to all my random questions over the last many months. the TCD Manifold + Downpipe(s) are AWESOME peices.

Looking at the ETK, I see no reason for this fault light. The system doesn't monitor fuel pressure in any way. You sure this is the case??

With that said, a WAG is that the dash module communicates with the DME and all the other ECU in the car thru the data link thats at the diag conn in the engine compartment. There may be an issue with no communication with the DME causing this fault condition??? Especailly since the car is moving, but not getting the injection consumption signal. See my point.

Im not sure we can help you a whole lot here, the E34 and M1.3 are not well known to FI here, especially with MS, and more importantly removing the DME and how that effects the other systems in the car. In the E34, the DME is more intergrated into the dash modules, auto tranny ECU, climate control ECU, EML ECU, OBC ECU ect etc.

Will do Todd, its at the exhaust shop right now, ill take pictures in a couple hours when I get it back.

russc, I did leave the DME's injector outputs jus Cut, and did not put any resistors between them and ground(to simulate injectors), If I did use resistors, I dont think the DME would have any way to figure out its not controlling the injectors.
I accidently Fried the main Power contact on the Megasquirt, because I left a Multi-meter connected to the Coolant sensor, and it somehow got grounded out, so Maybe when that happened, it sum how took out the Onboard stuff? I jus fixed the contact on the board and everything was fine. My Speedometer still works, but i know that comes from the speed sensor in the diff, so...?

I noticed a Slight Leak near my Turbo Feed line after I got to the exhaust shop, gonna have to check that out.

Ill get some pics of my funny ABS 3" charge pipe soon,
thanks,

i have a similar problem with my tach but it seems to happen less and less now. before i went turbo, the tach would sometimes not work upon start up or just die when i was driving so i would have to shift based on the sound of the motor. now i run a standalone and turbo and every once in a while it will not work upon start up. however, if i turn off the car and turn it back on it generally works. no clue what this could be and it doesn't really bother me so i am going to focus on creating a "CLEAN" engine bay for now!

Hey guys, sorry I havent taken pictures or gave any updates, but Ive been busy fixing problems.

First I had a bad oil feed leak that I finally got fixed. Found out my VE Table in MS was upside-down, so I fixed that, got it idling around 12.5-13.5. Noticed the Silicone Vac line on my Wastegate Split in half, and was just hanging there, so I fixed that.

Im just about to take the car out for a test drive, and I notice it OVER HEATING!!!(after being driven hard for a couple days no heat issues). I turn the car off, check the Top Radiator hose from the Thermostat, and its HOT. SO I check the lower hose comming out of the radiator and its COOL. The "Hot" side of the radiator is only hot like Half way down, then its pretty cool/cold.

Ive replaced the thermostat less than 1000 miles ago, (drilled tiny hole in top to help bleeding, last thermostat broke in half and helped blow a headgasket). Could my radiator have just got clogged idling there? Doesnt make any sence. Im waiting for it to cool down so I can check the Coolant Level.

After I finally get it all going well(had to fix Blown off charge coupler and wat not) Now its overheating at idle.

Any Ideas?

Not looking so good.

Just for some background info, Not so long ago(maybe 1000 miles), i blew my headgasket from overheating, so I put a Fresh stock one On, ARP studs, + rebuilt my head.

It ran great N/A after that, never a coolent problem, but after I bleed the system(after new gasket) I never really checked the coolant since.

SO.... After boosting 2 days, I start up and it starts to overheat, .I just checked the coolant, it was Way low, and there was sum Oil gunk in there, Not a lot, but some. Now, I didnt really clean out my coolant tank well, so MAYBE this is from last time i blew the headgasket(really hoping so). But that doesnt explain the loss of coolant.

I checked the Oil cap, and dont see any water, and i havent seen ANY White smoke out the exhaust, or any water out the tailpipe.

im REALLY REALLY hoping the headgasket isnt blown already, I dont think it ever had any knock while testing.

Should I refill then bleed and test it out or what???

Are you running a MLS HG with the ARP studs? I know of several instances where 240sx turbos running MLS HS needed a head retorque at around 1000 miles to stop a minor HG leak that would result in a very slow loss of coolant. I would also think that a leakdown test could help diagnose a possoble HG problem.

I replaced with a Stock Headgasket,

Well, I refilled my coolant and bled it, and so far so good. I had a pinch in my oil drain and it started smoking bad, got it fixed. Drove the car + tuned it for like 45 min and NO overheating problem, ZERO coolant loss.

BUT, my coolant is dirty, I think its from last time when I blew my headgasket, i DRAINED the coolant but didnt flush it, and I only drained out of Radtiator drain, but I read today there is a block drain too, So im going to flush my coolant out soon and get it all clean.

Snapped some pics with my friends camera, he shuld email them to me tonite or tommorow, then Ill email to Todd,

thanks,
