I'd guess that there's fewer than 100 total turbo e28s between the US and Canada.* That includes Dinan, Calloway, Cartech, TCD, and any other oddball makers out there.

Id guess more than 100 in US/Canada. Especially if you include td's. Id think in the 200-250 range? But again, like you said, just a guess.

Whod imagine you could make a little M10 do that...So i have the turbo Bug back bad...I really can not wait to be able to take it off the road and start working on it. Got nearly everything i need to start.

It finally lives! This is my red '87 535is you helped me start to take apart at the end of July 2005. I ended up replacing the engine and getting the Spec clutch. It runs but has a few issues before it can be a daily driver. However, I did drive it to Columbia, MD and back, which is over 100 miles.

I still need to fine tune the engine. It has an idle issue I haven't figured out yet. Also, I have some new control arms I bought a year ago with Paul Grey bushings that I need to install and the front passenger side need a new wheel bearing. It could also use new tires.

Once these are done, it will be a limited daily driver. Since I drive 25-30,000 miles per year, I bought a '96 318ti Sport for better gas mileage.

I will definitely be autocrossing it next season, but I figure I'll finish out this season in the stock class with the 318ti.

Yeah, it was worth it to me. I see the potential to make it a monster. It's just a long, hard road, but it is almost there.

I guess I just have the building bug because I keep thinking about doing a Downing Atlanta supercharger on the 318ti. There is also a guy that has a kit to put an Chevy LS1 and 6 speed in the e36. Due to the aluminum block, this weighs about the same as the m52/s52 with a lower CG and the weight is farther back in the body.

Of course the guy managed to total it on a race track soon after he finished it, but I bet it was pretty wild up to that point.

My brother has my old 3rd gen '93 RX-7 and is seriously thinking about this conversion for his car. Sport Compact Car mag compared one with a race RX-7 last month and liked it alot. They stated that with the right tires, the LS1 RX-7 would have spanked the race ready RX-7 on the road course and it was a much more tractable car without losing the 50/50 balance due to the light weight of the motor. They said: think of it as a light weight Corvette instead of a bastardized RX-7.

there was a guy that wrecked a 318 with that set up at Pacific Raceways near Seattle about a month ago. Prior to that it had an e36 m3 engine in it. It was a nice ride.

Bingo! That's the guy. He said a car threw oil on the track and he hit it. The car supposedly did some end over end flips. Sounded like a wicked crash, but he was unhurt due to the roll cage and competition belts he wisely installed in the car.

count me in. i got one too. project form but still driving. waiting on manifold to ship from the uk. im wating to buy tcd's electronics , chip, injectors, or there ms setup. id like that.

I hope to be a part of that crowd myself in the somewhat near future.

I'll let you guys know whats going on when I get working on it.
