Muffler recommendation
I stuck a Magnaflow perforated core straight through muffler on my 88 528 turbo after work today. It seemed very similar to the glasspacks I had used on my old 85 528 back in the day, which sounded like complete crap. With that in mind, I did not expect it to work as well as it does. Its as quiet as a stock 528e single pipe exhaust at idle. Maybe quieter, if not just softer. At a cruise or under light acceleration its very reasonable. Close to stock. On full blast its still very subdued, though slightly louder than stock. I never expected it to work so well with nothing but pipe between the turbine and muffler. Just about 15 inches of Magnaflow does the trick. I cant recommend it enough.

I've been thiking about using one for a while. I am glad to hear they are not too loud. Definitely going to give it a try.
The Magnaflows work well with turbo cars simply because the turbo serves as a form of muffler itself. If you were staying NA, I'd say talk to Shawn D to find out what he used as his system sounds great. My M5 had a 3" system with a Magnaflow and it was intolerable, it was so loud. you'd have thought it had straight pipes.

The listing said it was P/N 14246. Heres a link:

The 5x8 oval size is a little tall to really tuck under there. I had to turn mine so it sits diagonally to keep the lower front portion from sticking too low in path of road debris. It looks silly to me, but it fits well enough.

Yes, Shawns car does sound good.
Jeremy, I actually ended up getting the whole S1 kit due to a lack of time to fabricate too much. I originally was just buying the items in the picture and fabricating the rest.
As far as the exhaust goes I have to fabricate something or I won't be satisfied. So far I have a cat and 304 SS tubing on the way. All I need is a muffler to complete the package.
My original install date was the 9-10 of March. That may get moved due to the unexpected death of a close friend last night. I will have to go back to Atlanta this week and that will put me behind in my work. I cannot do the turbo install if I am behind schedule at work. It will have to wait until I am caught up.
