60-2 Trigger wheel offset

Post by Maddog »

Does anyone know how far the e34 60-2 wheel gap is BTDC? I am using the e34 VR sensor too. I just need to get down there and measure it with a timing light , but I was hoping someone might know off the top of their heads. The car runs well with the offset set to 90 degrees, but I read on the forum somewhere that it should be 84 degrees?

It depends on where the sensor is mounted on the wheel.

As far as mechanical placement -

It does not look anywhere close to 90 or 84 degrees.

Looking at the picture you posted....

If the engine is at TDC, and the sensor bracket is mounted on the left side of the lower timing cover, The angle between the missing teeth and where the VR sensor is a little less than 90 degrees. I dialed mine in with a timing light this weekend to be about 86 degrees.
