I am rebuilding a 1987 745 engine up and going through replacing all the seals and so everything. Now I ran across a water inlet on the back of the head. I don't have something like that on my e34 m30. Is this only for the turbo head to keep it cool. also wanted to know if water flows into it or out of it and where I should be putting a hose for it.

The E34 has a block-off plate over that port. On the earlier cars there is a pipe that extends toward the driver's side and feeds the heater core.
