I've got a lot on my plate right now and don't intend to do anything until this winter. It's then that I'll transfer the entire drivetrain, suspension, brakes......virtually all of the mechanicals from the 535 except the driveshaft
Just picked up a DS myself from Beyer DriveLine for the e28, but it will be a minute before I can punish it with a FI application. I feel assured from all the info from your previous thread that it should hold up fine when that time comes.
Nice looking car, Bill! The sixer is a bit of a different kind of animal to live with than the e28 despite their similarities. You're certainly right about the turbo negating any weight penalty. That thing will be quite the cruiser when you get it done.
Yep, it's the b35 motor and 1.3 Motronic. I'm leaving the 635 bottom end in it and moving everything esle over. Truth be told, I overbuilt the bottom end in the 535 and it was nowhere near being taxed. I won't mess with a total motor swap unless something goes boom.
The EH in my 535 self destructed soon after the boost got cranked up a bit. I swapped in a freshly rebuilt non-EH unit and have had no issues in the 3 or so years it's been in there. It's also got a revaned converter and contrary to popular belief the combination really, really works nice. It'll be an even better fit in a GT car like the 6er.
Also staying is the Motronic. I'm not well versed in electronics and I don't have the time to keep a car tuned to a knife's edge. The nearest dyno is 200 miles away and a standalone does not make sense for me at this time. Sadly enough, I do have a Sun dyno sitting in storage but the damn power company won't put in 3 phase where I'm at. Perhaps once I retire I can play with it!

Bill, if I can re-hash a question (that I know I've asked before), what are your thoughts on the durability of non-EH unit vs. EH? From my understanding they are basically the same trans only 1 doesnt have the electronic features. After going through 2 used EH units in my e28, I got fed up & did the convs. I actually wish I would have tried non-EH to see how it would hold up. Aside from that though, I'm still back to square 1 b/c the 260/6 I put in is crapping out after 4mos of use! Thanks man!
AFAIK, all 4hp's up to a certain prod. date had issues with the pump releasing pressure when in neutral. Revving the car in neutral was a big time no-no and sooner or later most of the clutch packs gave up the ghost. It's been over 4 years since I replaced mine so you'll have to excuse my not remembering everything. Not trying to be a smart ass but check the archives. There were a pile of writeups on this a few years ago.
Thanks for the info! I've previously done some extensive research in the archives & they were quite helpful. Was just curious to get another expert opinion.
