Its video time

Post by turbodan »

From a standard 40 roll, camera car is a e90 335i 6 speed:

Same camera car, standing start:

It still needs a good dyno tune, but its doing alright in the mean time. I think I may be approaching the limits of the turbodiesel manifold. I'm also still running the 30lb injectors with the stock 3 bar FPR, so they're probably about maxed out too. Most incredibly, I'm still using the same head gasket and bolts I started out with. It has leaked, so the head has lifted at some point, but it seems to have resealed. So I'll run it some more...

That was a light at an intersection in the middle of nowhere at 10 o clock on a thursday night. Its all very flat, tons of visibility. Three lanes wide. Nothing to worry about.

You post videos of street racing, you are gonna get lots of crap. Hell, I got lots of crap juts with words. IMO - words are not evidence, video most certainly is to police. Be careful.

:dunno:

Its not so bad. I'm not videotaping a robbery. I'm not super worried about the authorities pursuing a case against some guy in a video on the internet.

I didnt know my plate lights were so dim. Thats probably a good thing...

Honestly, I think the exhaust you're hearing is the 335i. It sounds louder than stock, any details available on the e90?

Very impressive pull. Very balsy running 100+ through the intersection. I used to do stupid stuff like that when I was younger. Like 5erfest 2003, maybe.

The 335i is stock. You can hear the e90 a little in the first video before I really spool up. I'm running a 3" downpipe and exhaust, straight pipe, no cat or muffler. Its got a natural resonance at high revs when you chop the throttle at like 6k and again at 5k. It sounds pretty sick coasting down in gear.

Everybody says they think it'll do 12's. I'd be alright with that.

There was a guy at one of the thursday meets a few months ago that pulled the same move a few streets up. Hes got a turbo eclipse, and not much ground clearance or suspension travel. Apparently he wasnt aware of the hump in the right lane at that particular intersection until he was right up on it. He caught a good foot or two of air at 100+. The only video was from inside his car, but even then you get a feeling of terror. They floated up there for quite a bit.

Dumb ass kids...

3.25LS. I was pedaling it like Lance Armstrong. I always do, because it always spins like crazy. I'm thinking about a 2.93 or even a 2.79 LS. The 2.79 would probably clear 60 in first gear. That would be fun.

You can buy mine if you got the money to enter the game. It's an '87 535is TCD S2 with both an 8lb and a 13lb boost spring. Right now it is okay with rolling acceleration on the 8lb boost spring because I have a 3.73lsd. I want to get a 3.25lsd and run the 13lb spring.

Do it!! I want to put a 3.25 on "Red" in the not-too-distant future. It currently runs 12psi.
