Euro 533 cam on Ebay

Post by M. Holtmeier »

I know NOTHING about BMW history, but I'm learning. Is this camshaft worth putting into a turbo m30? Is there a place to find spec's on this, or is this going to have too much overlap?

It should work quite well. Todd's old 3.3l 745i had this cam and the dyno chart was impressive!

Weren't you guys just talking about this in your S2 thread? So that's the same as the 745i cam huh? I've got a B35 head coming, how would this cam compare to the one in the b35? I'm going to search for some specs, just though I'd ask to get a grip on things. Thanks.

The first 745i we built had a junkyard (non 745i) 3.2L with a stock early cam. The head was also ported. It made 331rwhp/316rwtq at 1 bar.

This engine still had the factory turbo setup correct?

Hmm, not to step on any toes, but I'm not getting it. I read 331hp is a great number, but the setup is basically the same as what I got, right? What am I missing here? :? Motor size? 15 psi boost right?

3.3l M30, early cam, intercooled S2 kit, running on Motronic...It had less displacement and Motronic, the cam basically made up for the lack in displacement. Its not gonna add 50hp to the fire....

How much different was the 745i than your b34 535i? That one put down 388rwhp.

m30b32 at 1 bar with motronic = 331rwhp/316rwtq
m30b34 at 1 bar with standalone = 348rwhp/395rwtq

388rwhp/441rwtq was at 19psi

Use the B35 cam. Devinder posted the specs and it's very close to 272 degree duration. Plus you don't have to worry about acquiring the correct adapter to allow use of the later style bolt on rotor.

Ok, that all makes sense. Thank you.

Are those numbers from the b32 with a different intake manifold and head work?

OK the late motronic 84 and up 745i came with the euro cam same as the dirty motor and same as the b35. I have these cams sitting around at the shop and the early 533 cam is very close to the euro cam. I think it was vance that posted the alpina b7 used the stock euro cam.
