Went to the track...big letdown
Went to the track last night with the new intercooler setup, and the results were less than desirable, we'll say. Didn't feel right for sure. I ended up with the oil dipstick blowing out of the tube, giving me that wonderfully huge vacuum leak and no idle...Figured that out and cleaned most of the mess, but the Motronic had gone so wonky after that, it didn't want to do much of anything, and the track was closing shortly after. I'll be getting a new grippier dipstick I guess and running again next week...the old one had nearly zero resistence. The only thing really holding it in was the crankcase vacuum. I ended up using the wrist strap from my digital camera to tie down and anchor that bitch in the tube for the ride home. Fabulously ghetto...I guess i am developing a bit of base pressure, but no smoke or oil concumption, so screw it! I'll beat on it till something blows up...
I think I'll also be eliminating that vacuum to the crankcase as well. No need for it as far as I can tell...

Is there some kind of o-ring on the dipstick at the top? I can't remember now.
May as well just vent the valve cover to atmosphere via a catch can with a filter on top. Either that or a check valve in that line so you don't pressurize the crankcase under boost. I'm considering both solutions, not quite sure which way to go yet.

Think I found the problem guys! I discovered that the vacuum line on the bottom of the intake manifold feeding both the FPR and the blow-off valve was disconnected. It must have blown off under boost on the way to the track, and would explain why the car felt gutless. Big vacuum AND boost leak. No signal to the BOV would also cause a huge pressure buildup when the throttle is slammed shut during shifting, explaining why the dipstick blew out of its tube. It was the path of least resistence...
New dipstick and getting that vacuum line secured permanently should solve the problems. Will try again next week and see what happens!
