Turbo 535

Post by TurboBMW »

I plan on putting a turbo on my 86 535i. I was just wondering how these motors hold up with high mileage. the motor has 210k miles on it. I plan on rebuilding it but for now i will just run it as is. I just got done making a custom turbo kit on my e36, i just want to turbo my e28 now and havent done much research on the m30 motor.

Thanks

As long as the motor is healthy to begin with, you're fine.

My engine had 235,000 on the stock block when I installed the turbo. I had the head off at 230,000 to install a MLS, head studs, and b35 head. Now at 242,000 no problems to report. I am running 15lbs boost.

Thanks for the responses. Sounds like i will be fine for a while the motor is in good shape just has some oil leaks. What do you do for tuning on these, I know there is the 745 software or probably standalone.

Thanks

Red car has Megasquirt standalone and larger injectors.

Pokey has a stock ECU with a chip that raises the rev limiter, larger injectors, RRFPR, and a recalibrated AFM.

WBO2 is used for tuning on both.
