There's one or two very knowledgeable folks if they happen to still hit the boards. :|

Only twin turbo system I know of is the old Cartech system. Sweeney had one, maybe some others. I think the consensus is that with modern turbos you can make plenty of power with a single moderately-sized turbo and it will spool just fine.

I was wondering because I never heard of anyone doing it on an e28 and was thinking of doing it myself.

I've seen them on Nissan Skylines with the RB26DETT inline 6 motor and was wondering why not do it to an e28?

I'm a big fan of Nissan 300zx's and love the twin-turbo set up.

The Cartech system sucked, I can tell you that much. On the one I had, the turbos didn't get busy until within a couple grand of the rev limiter, so it was rather pointless. I'm sure it could be pulled off if you chose the right turbos, seems to be working for BMW with the 335i, right? Any particular goal in mind other than the "wow" factor?

Sure it could be done, just more work and more "stuff" under the hood. I suppose if you want to use junkyard parts, it might be easier to find two small turbos than one single for a 3.5L.

Here is your answer. All of the twin turbo 300ZX and Supra guys who want BIG HP pull the twin turbos and install a single turbo system.

Actually, the 300ZX TT guys don't run a single turbo and really can't because of the V6 engine configuration. I would know since a good friend of mine has one and is always babbling about making it faster. :D

Well not on the E28 chassis....but I had 2 E34 M30 Bi-turbos...
and the way I had one set up was with 2 mitsubishi tdo6 16g big turbos with the 7cm back housing. And from a dig they were a bitch to be reckoned with......nice torque fast spool but alot of plumbing work.....

on the stock motor/ecu and injectors I went 321rwhp @ 8-10psi...with tuning help at 15psi I went 420 to the wheels on same stock motor larger injectors, and adj fpr

Alpina also used twin turbos for the E34 B10 biturbo, if you can find any pics of their setup.

If you go with bi-turbo. Get a small one and then a larger one. One for low end other for higher end. Bigger torque band <3

If you're going to do that I thought you needed to plumb them sequentially. Thats a bit more complicated.

I´m running the Alpina manifolds, Volvo injectors and some additional parts from Todd (and soon i´ll add some parts from Pat P;) ) . That should be good for up to 350 - 370 rwhp.
I can recommend Alpina plumbing. They did a lot of R&D. If you´re interested. I can asked for prices as you have to show them an B10 Biturbo registration paper to buy parts.

Cheers Alex
