Vintage BBS brochure orgy, lots-o-pics

Post by Adam W in MN »

So I have been on the hunt for some vintage 1980's BBS brochures ever since I got my BBS RS wheels. Shortly after I got the wheels, Paul LaDue I think posted on here about how he had all the old BBS brochures and price lists which really got me interested in finding the literature. I love having this type of stuff, vintage brochures on your car, vintage advertisements, etc.

Well, literally after over a year of saved searches on Ebay.de I snagged the mother load. I managed to get one of the big 50+ page brochures about 2 months ago, but then recently I won the auction for a whole pile of stuff. Fliers, another big brochure, some smaller 30 page brochures, price lists, a flier showing dealer locations in Germany (really neat stuff!), and some random Volkswagon specific brochures that I'll sell off.

Check out the items I grabbed in the pics below.

Two of the random fliers listing wheels and aerodynamic items.

Picture of the price list brochure, showing the page of BBS RS prices. I *think* this brochure was either 1981 or 1983. Most of them are 1981 but one or two were from '83.

Some pages I took photos of that show E28's with BBS items.

I had never seen this stuff before. "BBS Junior"? Some kind of secondary line they did in the early 1980's? Only for E30's apparently, but the wheels are like nothing I've seen on any E30.

BMW E21 3-series brochure that I'll probably sell.

Random Volkswagon brochures I will definitely sell.

Nice purchase Adam. How's the scanner working? Maybe the technical info, part numbers and such for the spoiler FAQ.

What's the deal with that first VW/Audi brochure? It looks like the two cars on the cover are about to crash into each other at high speed. :)

I wonder how many people back then ran out and bought a set of BBS wheels for their VW van.

I don't mind doing one BBS wheel type for you, but I'm not going to write out all the sizes and specs for every BBS wheel that will fit an E28.

What about the BBS "RS" for E28? At least the BBS RS spec. for the black E28 in the BBS aeropart.(as your pic)
thanks,

I was thinking about grabbing a pair from an E23 and making them work.

Bumping an old thread.

I met a local guy who refinished my 2-piece BBS wheels and he's a BBS RS fan. I brought out these brochures from my archives and he nearly fainted, handling the brochure pages as if they were from a Gutenberg bible.

Figured these images might be good for any new members on the board to read through if you haven't seen this thread.

Love this. "Neu und attraktiv" indeed! Thanks for bumping it to the top.

It does remind me how good the e28 looks with the RS's on it. I'm not a huge fan of the staggered sizing, but the polished rims do make the visuals pop.....

I was considering having the whole thing scanned at kinkos, let me look into it this weekend.

Kinkos wouldn't touch it without a release because of the copyright. I'll have to figure out another scanning option.
