An update for anyone who might care:

The "quest" is still on...but it's been debilitated by the incredible cash sucking project of my home construction/remodeling. Frankly, I started with over $19k to be VERY choosy and was settled on the red M535i on Ebay that I thought would never approach my 12.6 bid. Ha ha! Fooled again! Today, I don't think there's a penny of that left. What I thought and budgeted as a 10 - 12k project has turned into over 40k. I'm not exactly a man of means, either.

Who cares! ~z~

There, I said it for you.

Anyway, the current status is that I have about 3 more contractors to get off the books and once they've completed their work in about three weeks, I should know how bad my financial situation really is. After that, I'll organize the financial posse again and continue in earnest. Right now, I think it's prudent to take a "wait and see" mode before I commit to a car.

I do think, however, that I have a car in mind that many of you have seen in person. Seller and I seem to be on or near the same schedule. I hope that works out for me and I have a car by 5er Fest.

We'll see.

Thanks for all of your help. Please don't stop letting me know if you have an idea for me.

Tom

Hmmm, is that a car that I have seen? Maybe you need to talk to me about a re-finance of that property once it is all purty so you can have sum cash to buy that e28 of your dreams! Let's see am I licensed in the state of Kentucky.................? Yep! ;-) Thanks for the update and let me know what you are lookin at. I kept TTs purchase a secret, even though he didn't...LOL!

Now that you are familiar with the Home Improvement math equation which goes like this:
Add up all costs of demolition, hauling away trash, improvements, clean up, and triple that number and that is your "actual" budget! I think the same goes for restoring a BMW, but that is a whole other Oprah!

Cheers,
Ron

Sounds like the house is nearing completion?? I have the next five days off, Tom, let me know what your schedule is. If you don't have a car by 5er Fest, you know you can ride shotgun in the old girlfriend!!!

There's still the electrical, HVAC, floor refinishing (they'll be here in 9 hours!), drywall, paint and trim work to do... so..yeah, I'm getting near completion!

That's the schedule, Mike!

Woohoo! I'm sure when they say "three weeks" they really mean at least 7 or 8 anyway %) Shifter might go on tomorrow or so, no definite plans here. It turned out to be not so much of a project as I had thought. Good luck! I'll have to see the house when it's done. BTW, you can drive part of the way to 5er Fest, too!
