. . . here they were!

For those of you that may be unedumacated on Style 5 wheels, I've compiled a database for the "composite cross spoke" style. They were available in 17x7.5, 17x8, 17x9, 18x8, and 18x9 versions.

Or, you can go to my home page and click on "Style 5 Database"

Sold for $1340.....PLUS $120 s/h/i = YIKES!!! ~0
It was ONLY four wheels...not 5. Shizzite...the retail price for these wheels is
something like $450 each, right?
Tim

ps.
I've decided that when/if I sell or trade my '99 e39is, I'm keeping the Style 5s
for the '87 535i and putting the Style 4s on the e39...IF the ET# is correct enough
to work :D

I've never seen a set of style 5's on a 3 series. Must be very rare.

Me, neither. Yes, they must be. I see about 1/5 as many 7.5" style 5s as I do 8-inchers on eBay. I think it was mainly a Euro thing, because I've seen about 2 or 3 sets on American eBay from the UK.

I think those wheels are mis-labeled. There were style 5's available for 3 series, but none of them had as big of a lip as the ones pictured (supposed to be 41mm offset). The wheels in the pic are definitely lower offset for a 5, 6, or 7.

So, I'm guessing that if they are infact 5 series wheels ,(which they do look like), sold as 3 series wheel, someone is going to be pretty pissed off when they realize they just dropped 1400.00 on a set of wheels they can't use. eBay strikes again.

Ebay is fabulous, Rick, pure capitalism at it's finest; and as always, caveat emptor. I may get a new lesson in this, a 3.64 limited slip diff I bought from a guy near Sacramento may never see my garage. The guy, who has an excellent eBay rating and over 400 evaluations won't answer my email now.

Fortunately, I used Paypal and will get my money back, but disappointing nevertheless.

Pat, I use eBay all the time. eBay is like Fry's electronics, you better know what you want before you go inside cause you'll find no intelligence once inside. 1300 plus for a set of style 5's is nuts. I hope the guy who bought them knew what he was getting.
