Had to do it despite of the fact that they're e39 wheels so I'll have to continue to use hubcentric rings. Sigh. Still, 30k miles on the wheels and only 500 miles on the tires isn't too bad.

The Style 42 auction details can be viewed here, here's how they look on an e28, courtesy of Todd Kenyon and his M5.

Those are some awesome wheels! Someone that participates on this board has those wheels, too. I think his name is Ken, and he owns the turbo 535i that TCD worked on a few months back. Gorgeous!

Gorgeous wheels Pat....I'm particularly fond of the styles used on e39s (Style 42, Style 5) and they look GREAT on e28s! What are you doing with your "old" wheels? I thought they really looked nice on your car. You did well on the auction....especially considering the Pilot Primacy's are almost NEW!!!
Cheers, Tim :D

Hey Pat,
You know the rules....post a price when you're hawking your wares here on the board ;)
Hey, want to trade those OLD wheels for my Style 4s? Drop me a line....even swap!
Best,
Tim

Pat, can I ask what you landed up paying for them?

Rick,

Well, my best guesstimate is $1040.00 for the wheels and tires (already mounted and balanced) and about $120.00 to drive to Tustin, CA and bring them home yesterday. Thank the Gods that Icehaus Dave was willing and able to co-drive. Otherwise I'd have had to stay a night on the road in someplace like Santa Barbara. :p

Up close and personal, the wheels/tires combination looks better than they did in the photos, and Alex Hughes, the new BMW enthusiast I bought them from, is excited to know of the rich vein of BMW experts I convinced him that we all are. :D

A pretty good score if I do say so myself, and I bought a 5th wheel with a small bend on the rim to use as a spare tire carrier for $102.00 plus $25.00 shipping from another eBAy seller, so I think I'm set as soon as I get another tire as a spare. Maybe a low cost Kumho or something.

 I'm felling good about it all.

$650.00 plus shipping for guys on the my e28 forum, but there's a guy driving over tomorrow to pick them up (he says) so they're all but sold. :p

Nice! I had those on my '83 533i & then on my '84 745i. I have always liked them. Nice choice!

Car looks nothing like that now. Pretty much been parted out.

You still have questions regarding leather dye? Almost a shame that I have a COMPLETE cardinal red M5 leather interior moth-balled in my attic. lol.

You and I are very much the same. I also have an E30 convert. Cirrus Blau with blue leather.

Didn't you dye some of the leather pieces on the car you had with the red interior? I just wondered what dye you found to match? I'm going to have to be satisfied with having the center console recovered in stitched leather to match the seats, cause I have a leather parking brake boot and cover, plus the Cardinal shifter boot. I do need new covers on the two front seats, want to sell that interior?
