Yesterday was a day that involved much personal sacrifice for 5er Fest. Under pressure, I forced myself to attend the annual "Blessing of the Bock" fest at the Capital Brewery in Middleton, WI. http://www.capital-brewery.com/
On a sunny day of about 34 degrees, I was attendee 350 or so hanging outside in the beer garden.
My mission? Ensure that the beer I procure and deliver to the Fest will meet the exceedingly high standards of our community. My sacrifice? I endured a liter and a half of the famed "Blonde Doppelbock," for which the aforementioned event was named. This is a beautiful beer with about 8 or 9 percent alcohol. Whew. Good thing it was cold outside, cause I got warmed up just fine. After that I endured another liter of the infamous Mai Bock, aka Mind Block, a slighly lighter, though equally stong brew. I believe that these two beers may be acceptable to our collective pallet. Oh yes, I also had to endure about an hour of live bagpipers and their kilts.
My next mission? Investigate the current qualities of the New Glarus Brewery http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/
This fine local brewery makes some of the best beers in the world. But I must make sure their high standards of the past are present in this year's brews.
Let me know if you have any special requests. The websites describe each of their beers. I'm more than happy to meet any requests so long as the beer can be found (some are seasonal or of limited release).
