I just came across a photo of my dad on eBay, taken in 1927 when he was sixteen years old. It's actually a photo of his high school football team; my uncle is also in the picture.

Yes, I'm going to bid on it.

What were you looking for to come up with that?

I was looking for photo postcards from my dad's hometown (we spent our summers there when I was a kid.) Usually all I find are the same old pictures of Main street, but then this popped up. :)

I nabbed the electronic copy of the photo off the auction. My dad is the guy on the right end of the front row; my uncle is the guy in the middle of the front row holding the ball.

He went to college on a football scholarship, and actually had a chance at one point to try out for the Packers...however, by then it was the middle of the Depression, and he didn't have the money for train fare to Green Bay. Not that it was a very high paying job at that time... :)

That's very cool -- I have a couple of neat high school pics of my maternal grandfather. Pics were taken of the seniors of his high school (maybe 20 of them) showing what they would supposedly be doing five years from then (which would have been in 1929) -- his shows him "getting married" to his high school sweetheart; he was in a tux and she in a wedding dress, with him putting the ring on her. That prediction was a bit off, as they never got married and were never really that "serious" (according to my grandfather). The pic is both amusing and strange.
