A friend of mine was told that you can't buy Alpina badges or accesories for your
car from them unless you have a registered Alpina car. Does anyone know this
to be true?

Ron,

Check with Paul LaDue. He provided me with the name of a German firm that deals directly with ALPINA and doesn't have any problem selling directly to US customers. I received a quote from them for a complete ALPINA suspension before the US $ went south against the Euro. I recall something like $1200 for the entire setup. Contrast that with KSK wanting in excess of $2300 for the same stuff.

As far as I'm concerned ALPINA should pull their US distributorship from KSK. I helped a guy who had a very low mileage US M5 that wanted ALPINA 17" wheels. KSK sold him the WRONG wheels. After providing him with the info about what he needed for his M5, KSK had to eat crow and buy back the wheels and get him the correct wheels. They're freakin incompetent and nothing more than thieves in my opinion.

Umm...yeah, when I spoke with KSK recently about a rear "heckspoiler" for my 535i, they said it would be something like $900 "special order item"....yikes! Direct connections in Germany are probably a better option but be prepared for some serious shipping expenses on larger items.
