Honda HRR216VXA...almost as cool as Duke's, but without the goofy plastic deck that will stress crack in 10 years.

Got mine in 2006 after witnessing my uncles 1986 era Honda mower with
aluminum deck start on the first crank after sitting for 6 months at a time. I'll still have mine in 2016, so we will hash out the details then...

Amazingly, I was able to find a photo of a mower exactly like mine:
It's a Jacobsen; I think it was built in the late 1960s or early 1970s (it was old when I bought it twenty years ago.) Still works good.

Didn't even know I had a photo of the weed mower, but I managed to find this one from 10 years ago (when we were in major drought so the landscaping was shit). My parents have a really nice ride-on Snapper now, since my Mom couldn't comfortably use the hand controls on this one, so I've sort of inherited it to use on my 1.5 acres.
The mower is rougher looking now with a decade of use since the photo, but still works great. I might disassemble everything and repaint, plus rebuild or replace some wear items. It will probably last forever in a residential environment with proper care. It's a 1994 Kees 38" walk-behind with a ~16hp Kawasaki. Too much engine, but the extra power is good when using the sulky. Here is the thing with the cover removed for belt inspection and getting the grease gun in there to hit up the bearings:

Wow, we had a Jacobsen exactly like that one 20 years ago. It wouldn't freaking die. It has that gigantic grass bag hanging off the back too which weighs like 100lbs when full of wet grass!

We just bought a Troy Built, same model as "twin55"
.
I'm done with high end mowers after owning a Snapper for 15 years. Don't get me wrong, it was a good mower, but I don't believe the extra cost is justified.

I remember a time when kids would do the yard service. I'll pay a teenager or any other US citizen to do yard work. Problem is, kids don't do yard work and I can't remember the last time I saw a non-hispanic running a lawn service. I do the yard work for the exercise and to save money. Our lawn mowing season is too long and the grass grows to quickly, at $40 per pop, that's $160/month. I'll push the mower and run the weed eater for a couple of hours each week.

(I know, the lawn is dead...
)
Troybilt-8hp+, 3fwd gears, 1 rev., pressure oiling
I bought this as junk-had to rebuild the engine (+10 bore), go thru the transmission, and fix the spindle (broke off the deck).
This baby rocks!

Wow, if Mad Max had a mower this would be it! That thing looks as serious as a heart attack

I like the Honda motor its very reliable But I hate mowing my grass. Every time I mow I wish I had a goat. The only reason I mow myself is because I paid for the mower and I cant bring myself to pay anyone else.
