swapping s38 into e28

Post by rebel51 »

hi ,just wondering if anyone has done this swap before and has any info on what they've done with wiring,i would like to use the stock computer ,but am also thinking of stand alone, which route is going to be more work ?also would like to delete the air pump and cat ,am wondering how this will affect the stock computer?also looking for advice on any other trouble spots encountered or someone might see. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

For an S38B35:
It bolts right up if you have a running engine and E28 M5 exhaust. It will run with the stock E28 M5/E24 M6 computer only.
For and S38 B36:
You must do some wiring to get it to work. It will run on the stock E34 M5 computer only. The exhaust will require some work, but it will run fine without an air pump -that is for emissions only. I don't believe the motor mount brackets bolt up.
Standalone will work for either, obviously.
Do a search for B36 if that is what you are planning, I think there is info somewhere here.

To do the B36, you'll need the RHS motor mount adapter from Koala Motorsports that the M30B35 conversion guys use.
