New Alcon Motorsport B-type racing 4 piston aerospace alloy 1.5"/1.625" leading/trailing calipers. Weight 4.75 lbs. 180mm x 60mm pad size. 3 point radial mounting points. 250mm in length.

The calipers can use any rotor size from 305mm to 330mm in diameter.

I had Fordahl Motorsport, a highly regarded Porsche suspension shop in Bellevue, Wa. make the caliper brackets to fit the E24/E28/E34 strut housing for a 325/330mm x 30mm rotor. I am currently using a stock E31 rotor, but I have two piece Alcon rotors ready to mount.

I paid for the R&D on these caliper brackets and they can be ordered from Greg Fordahl for $500.00. The brackets are made from a company that makes surgical instruments. The brackets are made from surgical titamium alloy.

I have a set of these calipers on the front along with E34 M5/540i rear calipers and rotors, E32 M/C, SS brake lines, porterfield R4S pads, and ATE blue racing fluid.

You can haul down a semi truck from triple digit speeds with this setup.

They will out perform Brembos and be less than half the cost.

The calipers cost new $1,715.00 each.

I am asking $1,500.00 for the pair with shipping.

What size wheels are required with this set-up?

Gorgeous set-up Jon. Good luck with the sale. I'm sure they'll go quickly at that price. If you have not posted them up on the M5Forum, Big Coupe Gruppe or Bf.c you may want to do so. The e28 ///M5 guys will probably dive on them. Given their form, function, and obvious beauty. Why would you want to change to anything else? Don't tell me you're going back to stock.

The brake bias is perfect with the E34M5/540 rear caliper/rotor upgrade along with the E32 M/C and ss brake lines. The ABS works great and the brakes will pop your eyes right out of your sockets.

The two piece rotors are not included, but I bought the calipers and rotors as a set. The rotors cost $450.00 each, weight half the weight as the E31 steel rotors.

The pad selection is great, I currently am using porterfield. Awesome pads.

I bought an extra set for a future Porsche project, but I have been so happy with the results of my 635, I decided not to pursue the Porsche project.

I actually bought two sets of these Alcon calipers and I was going to use the set I have for sale for a future Porsche project car, but have been so happy with how my 635 csi has turned out, I am selling the extra set.

At the time I bought the two sets of Alcon calipers, I also bought two sets of 328mm x 29mm Alcon two piece rotors to use with these calipers.

The rotors cost $450.00 each new. They are bedded rotors direct from Alcon. I would sell a set of rotors for $500.00 plus shipping if you are interested.

I had to wipe the drool off my chin. What is the aerospace alloy these calipers are made of? are they aluminum? or something more exotic... Also, I'd like to know more about the rotor setup... How can that be half the weight of a stock one? also, right now I'm running the so called 'big brake setup' that many here on the board do....Aside from the obvious improvement in braking, What unsprung weight reduction could one expect for the investment from these calipers, the titanium mounting brackets , and the rotor setup together compared to my setup -

I do not know exactly what the aerospace alloy mix is. Alcon will not say.

When you hold the caliper in your hands, it is amazing how dense the alloy is. It will not scratch, dent, bend, of flex. It feels like it weights nothing in your hands.

The caliper weights 4.75 lbs. Most aluminum calipers of similar size weight 9 lbs. These calipers are Motorsport calipers, not off the shelf calipers, that is why they are so light.

The two piece rotors I have from Alcon are also made from aerospace alloy. I will have to weight them to get exact weights, but compared to the 328mm x 30mm E31 stock steel rotor I am currently using, The Alcon rotors are so light compared to the E31 rotor.

When I took off my OEM stock front caliper and rotor, I did not weight them, but I know I have not added any weight to my cars corners.

I am also using 18" x 8 1/2" BBS rk's rims that only weight 17.5lbs.

If anyone could weight all the original oem parts, I could come up with what the weight difference is.

I have had several knowledgeable people drive my car with my current setup, and all of them are amazed at how awesome my car handles and stops.

To answer your question about the standard brake upgrade vs the alcon caliper upgrade. The standard upgrade is not even in the same league. The Alcons will blow you away.
