Searching for numbers.

Post by Das_Prachtstrasse »

I'm wondering if there's a way to search for numbers using the forums search function. For example, I was looking for threads mentioning the 3.64 LSD, however searching for "3.64" regardless of sentence length with other words ( and with or without the inverted commas, or asterisks' ) yields nothing, despite the fact it has been mentioned in numerous threads I found using different methods. Is this something that is outside the limits of the search function? Thanks!

This is why I added the Google search that returns hits from MyE28.com on the search page. The built-in forum search has limitations on minimum string length when indexing, so most number sequences fall into the cut-off. The length limit is there to prevent common short words such as "the" and "to" from inflating the index beyond a manageable size.

The phpBB search and the Google search both have their pluses and minuses. Your issue is an example of when I'd use the Google search.
