Windshield Molding Inserts

Hey I was wondering if anyone knows whether someone makes a black insert for strip inside the aluminum windshield molding - front and rear??
I replaced mine a few years ago with Bav Auto chrome inserts (plastic) and they have discolored so bad they are brown. I've seen replacement chrome ones on line but they are crazy expensive for what they are. Or has anyone had any luck painting the molding and inserts to black them out?
