US bumper mount covers for euro converted cars
US bumper mount covers for euro converted cars
Thinking about making 3D printed cover plates for my US market bumper mount holes that are now visible under my euro bumpers.
Would anyone else be interested?
The idea would be that the covers would be flush with the sheet metal, so when painted you would just see a rectangular-ish seam at each mounting point. It would make conversions reversible (maybe this is nice?) and would be a much cheaper option than swapping the sheet metal, and arguably a better solution to filling the hole with additional metal and/or bondo.

It sounds like a good inexpensive solution. I'm interested.

I'd be interested in this as well.

I'm interested. Addressing this issue over the summer and would like an alternative to welding in patches and bondo work.
Re: US bumper mount covers for euro converted cars
Great idea. I’m very interested in this. This is one of the main reasons I haven’t done the conversion yet. It’s a big job just to make everything look right. Your alternative would make it a lot easier for many people.
Re: US bumper mount covers for euro converted cars
Glad to hear there is some interest, thanks everyone!
In all likelihood it would 3D printed pieces that the end user would need to prime and sand for final paint.
I'm working with someone who would do the 3D modeling and printing, he's in Vancouver (I'm in SoCal). I'll be sending him some dimensions and molds. Is anyone near Vancouver that would be up for driving their car to him at some point for measuring and/or for test fit?

Re: US bumper mount covers for euro converted cars
Another thought - does anybody have a scrap US rear valance they would be willing to cut up?

I’m interested. Was just thinking today about a solution for this.
Re: US bumper mount covers for euro converted cars
Update on this idea. I'm picking up pieces of a US rear valance on Saturday that I will then use to prototype these covers. If I'm able to get a good fit on them I'll have them 3D printed with someone I've lined up for the job. In other words, still working on it!

Cool... would love to see the finished product.
Interested.

Re: US bumper mount covers for euro converted cars
Definitely interested!!! Front conversion is done, rear is languishing for this very reason!
