PLEASE READ! -- Forum Database Corruption

Post by Justin_FL »

Due to corruption in the forum's database, a restore was performed from the latest backup. New users who registered and any new posts, threads, or private messages made after Aug 29 5:00AM EDT were lost.

This affected 4 new user registrations, 43 new posts/replies, and approximately 100 private messages. Sorry for any hardships this may cause.

Also, due to the corruption, a full search index rebuild is taking place. The server may run slow and during this time the phpBB search will not work properly until the index cache is created in full. Please use the Google search in the mean time.

Any thread you began watching after 5am EDT yesterday will not be on your watch list. Since it was a database restore, the forum was rolled back to 8/29 at 5am.

Why/how did the database get corrupted. What is being done to prevent its corruption in the future?

These are the things I would be asking my provider..

To the "mods".. You are a heck of a team doing a heck of a job. Thanks!

In fact, I think I have a picture of all the mods.. Here they are:

Nice work on getting things straightened out!

We had something similar happen to our nwBMWclub forums. We found a line of code that had been corrupted. We fixed that line and all is well.

dammit. The one time the forum goes down, it erases the best response to Duke's Tiger obsession.

I don't remember who it was, but he said something similar to:
"If I asked you what a banana tastes like, you would say Sunbeam Tiger."

Solid gold.
