Re: MyE28.com Cars, Names, Faces
OK, since I've been on the board since 2007 and now own 2 e28's, I guess this isn't a fleeting fancy. I drove the white one until I bought a '86 bronzitbeige in August 2012. I gave the white one to my son Zach, and painted the bronzit to Zinno in 2013 and renamed them both this year:
The decision to repaint the bronzit car was easy: I've always wanted to paint a car myself. Since about 2008 (or whenever it was that I saw Chris K's zinno e28) I've wanted a zinnoberot e28. I know changing colors is a no-no, and I knew I wasn't going to strip it bare and do it properly, but I thought fuck it, it's my car, and I plan on driving it until either it or I kick.
WORST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE IN MY LIFE!
It took me over a year. I started a log to keep track of my hours. After it hit 200 hours, and the car was barely primed, I threw the log away. I did take pics, and will do an Eye-Candy thread soon. If the only result of the forthcoming thread is to convince some other poor ignorant dumbass to NOT paint his own car, it will be worth the effort.

Just to be clear, what was the worst decision -- painting it yourself or changing the color? (Sounds like you are referring to the former?)knunger wrote:The decision to repaint the bronzit car was easy: I've always wanted to paint a car myself. Car looks great, by the way.

Wow! Good call CEK! You obviously have familiarity with Tucson/University of AZ. and our consuming hatred of all things Penix/ASU.cek wrote:Bear down, Arizona!

How so?
Oh, by all means, the bad decision was to paint it myself. I love the color. When I open the trunk or hood, and see that crappy bronzitbeige, I love it even more...Drew in NYC wrote:

Early 70s era autoX helmet, check.
PRDA sticker, check. (we did the digital remaster that allowed these to be produced again, that helmet has always had one on there)
SVRA lanyard with hot pit credentials, check.
Time to hop on the bike and head down to the paddock.

Thought I'd post a few pictures here and introduce myself as I'm new to this forum and to E28s. I bought my 535is a few weeks back from the second owner with 148k miles. It does have a few small spots of rust in the usual areas, but otherwise it's extremely clean for a northeastern car! I absolutely love it!
Finally one of myself behind the car...

OK, your location says Horseheads NY, your plate is NY, however..............That sure looks like Cape May NJ Lighthouse to me.
Good looking E28.

Thanks! I am indeed from Upstate NY, but was visiting a friend in South Jersey, hence the Cape May pictures. Good catch!waynet1 wrote:OK, your location says Horseheads NY, your plate is NY, however..............That sure looks like Cape May NJ Lighthouse to me.

Re: MyE28.com Cars, Names, Faces
Hello from Finland
Couldn't find any pics of my ugly face
The e34 m5 has always been my dream car so I bought this 3.8 and put some futuras on (and d2 coils etc.)
Then started the e28 fever
And I bought this 525i mtech
525i is under construction to be a turbo'd track car. So I bought this 518i and threw m30b30 in, now it's waiting m-tech kit installation and a respray
Then came this "barnfind" 528i with hartge 3.5 h5 240hp engine, bc racing coils will be installed soon.
All e28's will have e34 m5 styling 20 or 21 wheels, I just love those wheels.
Thanks for the great forum

Hello, all! My name is Jake. I'm a current Washingtonian transplanted from Utah. I'm a Scorpio, my favorite color is orange and I love hockey. I also recently fell in love with the E28 and currently own a 1987 535is. Enough about me, let's get to my shoddy mug and decently clean car, eh?

I've never been a fan of the whole intake light thing but with those wheels and that color and the silver (maybe led?) ring around that highbeam, the whole car looks incredible. I love itBigdoug92 wrote:
