Trying to budget for TCD setup...
I'm planning on getting on the FI bandwagon late winter/early spring, and I need some details on cost. Now, I know the estimated cost for just the kit is ~5,500. However, I'm very aware that there are secondary costs whichadd to the final tab. What should I expect to have to budget for as a precautionary or a supplement to the ~5,500 I need to shell out for just the kit? TIA!

Personally, if you ahve the time I would go with making a custom tubo setup. Get a 745i turbo manifold of ebay etc. Will save lots of money, my friend and I just did it to his 535is and he maybe spent $3k, with 8.5psi it got just about 300hp to the wheels. The most expensive thing was the engine management system. Good luck with the turbo kit though.
Budget and Turbo Charging do not go together.
Answer these questions first -
Is your suspension, front and back, in perfect condition?
Have you up graded your brakes?
Is your engine running perfectly?
Have you replace all rubber under the hood to include hoses and lines?
Do you have high quality Z rated tires?
Is your fuel pump and all associated fuel components in perfect working order?
.....and the list goes on.
If you can answer yes to all of these, then you are ready to start thinking about turbo charging your car.
Nothing more dangerous than a high HP, poorly-maintained car.

Don't worry. Your car doesn't qualify as high HP.

Clutch Kit ~450
Fuel pump ~125
Rear subframe bushings if not recently done ~50
Solid diff mount ~35 for the urethane
All of the other systems need to be in excellent working order.

Todd,
Not to hijack the thread, but the clutch kit you mention - Is this a stock clutch kit? Or are you recommending something else? I'm 75% certain of rebuilding my engine this spring with a future TCD system in mind. The clutch will be replaced at that time. Will the stock clutch cut it? I'm not looking to build a monster system. Probably targeting a S1 level of power.
Thanks,

Answer these questions first -
Is your suspension, front and back, in perfect condition?
Yes it is, with newer bilsteins, bavauto springs, new mounts all over
Have you up graded your brakes?
Not yet, although they are in perfect working order. I do plan on adding the E32/E34 brake setup, using m3 semirace pads
Is your engine running perfectly?
Smoothest m30 I have seen. No issues.
Have you replace all rubber under the hood to include hoses and lines?
This is part of my spring maintenance, along with fluid change and countless other little things
Do you have high quality Z rated tires?
Kuhmo ECSTA Supra's 225/50 ZR 17"s on new ASA Wheels
Is your fuel pump and all associated fuel components in perfect working order?
All in perfect running order
