Now isn't that a beauty! Glad to see things are going back together.

I'm in to see this 10psi peak out at 6500rpms. Woot woot. :wrenchtime:

Finally got started this week. Engine and tranny are installed. Getting closer. Installed the oil pressure sending unit.

After 15 years of not being able to hear the radio with the windows down I finally installed a decent sound system. All decent components, modern head unit, elcpise amp, crossovers, sub woofer blah blah. That's all done!

Next, I am working on the instrumentation. Not going to start the new engine without an oil pressure gauge! Finished all the wiring on the gauge side. Hope to work on the car side this weekend.

I do plan on driving down to Vintage so the car needs to run soon.

No turn signal indicator or other indicator lights? Or is what the leftmost pod is on the aux gauge panel has? Kinda tough to see what that one is.

Alt light and high beam light will be located on the blank plate to the right of the foglight switch. No turn signal indicator lights since it's operation is audible. Left gauge on center console is a tach/shift light with memory recall.

Awesome build!
Bummer about the set back but I'm glad it's close to being back on the road.
I look forward to seeing / hearing it at Vintage.
The new wheels look great! I've always loved the CHs and this is the first time I've seen them on an E28.
It's incredible to have 500ish HP at 528e gas mileage... just crazy...
Keep up the good work!

Question: Do you think the aluminum LS is actually lighter than the BMW cast iron 6?

Got the clutch bled. Drove it around the industrial park. Washed it. Will hook up the laptop and tune it up tomorrow. Maybe drive it home!

I think you're confusing Todd's build with a certain Euro M5 rebuild.

The turbo took a dump on trip #3 around the industrial park. Blew the seal.

Fabricated a block off plate for the turbo bearing assembly and reinstalled the turbine housing. Need to order a some pipe to relocate the air filter so it doesn't suck that precious hot air from the turbine. Plan on breaking it in n/a. Put it on the dyno and run it at the dragstrip before reinstalling the turbo.

Super happy with the car. So nice to be driving the e28 again daily. This new engine is pretty badass. Should be sick on boost.

Installed the machined disc/block off plate that Sweeney made. Kind of cool. this will allow me to run the car at Road America where a boosted LSx would be too much for me to handle.

Decided to buy an entirely new turbo since the last one was a medium shaft with a big comp wheel and slightly undersized turbine and slightly oversized turbine housing.

This one is a Billet 7279 with Q trim turbine and 1.00 exh housing. The compressor housing is bigger so will require some mods to the charge piping. Should have it installed next week.

and beer can for context.

I have an LQ4 and a TR6060 in my garage.....want to do the same thing! Can't wait to see your E28 go BEAST MODE.

Quick question, did you make your own motor and tranny mounts? I know there's a guy on this board that makes them. I may have to re-read your post.

.....never mind. Re-read your thread. I see you made your own, and may offer kits later.

Well shit. The big turbo that was supposed to have an identical exh housing didn't. I wasn't interested in cutting up the downpipe so i had my original turbo rebuilt. Got that installed today. 2 miles later it's smoking at idle. Not happy. Turn around and head back to the shop. Get into the industrial park and go WOT in 2nd and 3rd. Pulls wicked hard, sounds amazing and puts a huge smile on my face. I really needed that! Only 7psi. 10psi is going to be really sick. No idea why it's smoking again. Will investigate tomorrow.
