745 wiring harness

Post by fred633 »

Putting a 745 motor in a 84 6 series. The 745 harness will not plug into the fuse box. What wiring harness do I need to use to make this work?

You may have to cut and splice. What year motor?

Not a clue what year it is. Bought it from a guy saying it is an 82 but that can not be correct as it does not have a distributor.

If you're going to use the 745 harness along with the 745 ecu, afm etc you will need to cut the c101 connector off and splice in the e24 c101 connector.

Not interested in cutting up 2 harnesses to make it work and rigging something together. Is there not a harness that will work or somebody that makes one?

Hahaha. No.

I guess you're also not interested in cutting the big chunk out of the passenger side frame rail that is also needed?

Why in the world would you cut a chunk out of the frame rail on a unibody car?

I wouldn't, but if you want to cram the 745i turbo setup under your hood you will have to. Duh.

I am off tomorrow so will try to drop the motor in and see what it looks like. If I have to run an internal wastegate so be it but I am not going to cut the frame.

I think you may just have to mod the right side motor mount.

I would not want to try to retrofit the Motronic 745i harness into another chassis. More hassle than it is worth, especially since you are already lost on this project. Easiest would probably be the -059 ECU swap with harness, larger injectors, RRFPR, and a chip from TCD with less timing...but at that point, you may as well consider MS2.

Looks like an 059 will not support the code for the knock sensors on a 4k chip. The 4k chips I have seen look like they are just boost cut which is not the way to set one up with modern technology. You also don't need to be running rising rate regulators when you are remap it for load and increase the duty cycle of the injectors.

What are you wanting a picture of specifically?

If you are set of knock sensors, your obvious answer is aftermarket injection system like megasquirt or other.

Not sure why you are set on keeping motronic just because of knock sensors. You do realize that aftermarket knocks sensors are available, right?

Either way, this project is going to include some custom wiring to make it work right....
