And then I needed to clean the old adhesive tape off the back of the 535is emblems in order to have a clean surface for new 3M double sided adhesive tape made for emblems and logos.
Clean. What'd you use?

I have to reattach the emblems on my '87 325is. Same style as the E28.gwb72tii wrote: Aug 12, 2022 6:19 PM A box cutter scraping and scraping for about 30 minutes.
I am afraid to use acetone or parts cleaner incase it damaged the emblems, as they are NLA I believe.

What specific 3M tape are you using? Please let us know how it works out!
Oof, sorry to hear it. Shoulder injuries are no joke, take the time you need to rest after surgery.gwb72tii wrote: Sep 14, 2022 1:59 PMI had an MRI on Monday and I have a completely ruptured rotator cuff so the next step will be surgery. crap....
gwb72tii wrote: Sep 24, 2022 11:48 AM So it’s official, I have a “massive” rotator cuff tear, where the entire tendon has separated from my shoulder.
Surgery on the 14th, in a sling until the end of November, then physical therapy.
Maeve is currently on the shelf until at least January.
I can’t shift a car so I’ll need to drive something automatic. Yuck.
So what should I buy for a 6 month widow and then sell?
I'm sorry to hear about your prognosis. Hopefully the surgery is a success and you heal without any mishaps.gwb72tii wrote: Sep 24, 2022 11:48 AM So it’s official, I have a “massive” rotator cuff tear, where the entire tendon has separated from my shoulder.

Glad the surgery was successful. Take the time you need to heal.gwb72tii wrote: Nov 28, 2022 8:13 PM I'm back, so to speak. Surgery was successful, and I start physical therapy tomorrow. I still cannot raise my right arm above my head so any progress will be slow for a while.
I did manage to do this while I was laid up. Go to the post at the bottom by gwb72tii:

It will be a few months before I get there, but happy to post picsszacsi72 wrote: Dec 02, 2022 8:06 AM Great thread, following.
Please post a lot of pictures when you are doing audio stuff - I've never done anything stereo on any of my cars, and I need to build a complete new system for my E28 that just happens to also be of Zinnoberrot colour, so it' will help me a lot.
Thanks!
Thank you!gwb72tii wrote: Dec 03, 2022 11:35 AMIt will be a few months before I get there, but happy to post picsszacsi72 wrote: Dec 02, 2022 8:06 AM Great thread, following.

In mean time I suggest you read the following thread and links from the e30 crowd. Lots of good info on updating speakers which apply directly to an e28 as well. The “Luke box” can be cobbled together as a do it yourself project, but the biggest gain I experienced was tuning my amplifier to where I could play my system louder than needed, but without distortion. I basically had no car stereo experience, but following the step by step system build completely surprised me with the detailed high fidelity sound. Crazy good, and not hard to do on your own.

No, I didn’t need to. Mine is still flexible and not cracked or dried out. I did paint it with SEM black trim paint to refresh the looks of it.Panici wrote: Jan 03, 2023 9:36 AM Glad you're on the mend.
Have you found anything to keep the foam/rubber part of the spoiler in good shape?
Mine is cracking and I'm sure will get worse over time.

My neighbor (has an e46 and a z4m) swears by gummy pflege and it appears to work, based on his cars.garageboy wrote: Jan 07, 2023 9:23 PM Würth Rubber Care or gummi pflege?

Good news getting back at it. Hopefully you will be closer to 100% soon enough.gwb72tii wrote: Dec 31, 2022 1:14 PM I am officially back! My right arm is at about 50% after surgery and, for now, 6 weeks of physical therapy. But going in the right direction.
The confusing part is the black washer BMW calls a clamp which is supposed to go between the rubber backed nut and the underside of the trunk lid. I'd appreciate any advice if you've gone through this before and used the "clamp" washers.
Hopefully tomorrow is spoiler install on the trunk lid, and front valance install
Have not tried this out before, just ordered a bottle and will give it a shot. Thank you.garageboy wrote: Jan 07, 2023 9:23 PM Gummi pflege?

viewtopic.php?t=80556 has the installation of M-Tech parts
But then you said you were installing the spoiler on new years so hope this isn't too late and that it helps.
But, but, but... perhaps not for you, but for most of those who run big thumping stereos, letting everyone know you have a big thumping stereo is the whole purpose. Listening to it is irrelevant.gwb72tii wrote: Dec 05, 2022 3:05 PM
The amazing (at least to me) result of installing this box is the huge, controlled bass without the car thumping all over the street.
No, that's the folks after the baby boomers. The Gen-X and later are most concerned with the ability to let those outside the vehicle know how bad the driver's taste in music really is.Mike W. wrote: Jan 16, 2023 7:19 PM

curious, do you have a pass through from the trunk thru the center armrest? was used for skis I believe, at least in e30's. that's where we'd position the sub to fire through, but my car has no passthrough and I'm reluctant to start sawing a BF hole.Blue Shadow wrote: Jan 16, 2023 7:47 PMNo, that's the folks after the baby boomers. My thumping and bumping subs are for occupant's enjoyment mostly, back massages in the rear seats. Those outside the vehicle don't hear much until I open the windows.
I have a hole cut in the rear firewall for the dual 10" to fire through. The box is bolted to the firewall and has two chambers, one for each driver.
