Kill for today - 280ZX Turbo

Well, on the way to work this morning and spotted a very nice 280 ZX going my direction. It looked like it might be a turbo by the wheels but I had to get closer to see for sure. Car was occupied by a SWM and he was several cars in front of me. Luck would have it and he turned onto the onramp of I24 where I was going.

I was directly behind him on the onramp and could see that it was indeed a 280 ZX Turbo. Once on the freeway I accelerated to the far left lane and passed him in short order, he was surprised. I watch as the front of the car would porpoise up as he accelerated and then down as he shifted. He caught up quickly.

Due to traffic I had to bide my time until the left lane opened up. Once it did I gave the car some gas to get on boost and see what he would do. He was ready to go and I saw him immediately accelerate (nose went up again). I then took my cue and went WOT at 14.6 psi and just RAN away from him, talking bus lengths. He had his nose in the air again trying as he might. I shut it down at 120 and then settled into my normal 80 mph cruise and he stayed back not wanting another spanking.

Not really that big a deal, the 280 ZX turbo was a slug unless it was highly modified, this was obviously not. It was a nice looking car though.

Ohh come on Duke I think slug is a little harsh I had a lot of fun in my best friends 280 zx turbo in high school. The car ran good for back in the day. Good kill tale though.

Dude, that doesn't count as a kill. Almost every modern V6 car is faster than a 280zx turbo. Talk to us when you kill something worthy of a post.

You sound like my office mate. He is tired of all of my exploit stories. He only wants to hear about the Vetts, Mustangs and HEMI's I kill. Too bad those guys don't want to play so much. He has a 2006 Mercedes that I spanked very early on and he does not want to play anymore either

If your talking a e55 or something from the Benz family with balls now we are talking...


Hey get them while ya can...there is probably a couple c6 z05's that should be on the prowl during the warmer months....that should be interestnig to say the least...

A stock Z is not a kill (having owned one, I know). HP is 180 for the turbo in stock form.
